Greenalls skipper Mark Hughes, vice Jon Shakeshaft and midfielder Chris Latham have all been included in Steve Lloyd’s Cheshire squad to face Manchester in the Inter League final this coming Wednesday.
After dismissing East Lancashire 7-1 on aggregate in their semi final, Cheshire will be full of confidence going into the final. Manchester, their opposition, saw off Liverpool 5-4 overturning a 3-2 defeat from the first leg.
In terms of Greenalls involvement, Jon Shakeshaft was rarely troubled in the second leg of their semi final, as four goals from Ged McAllister was more than enough to see off East Lancashire. However Shakeshaft played a key role in the first leg, as Cheshire won in Lancashire by a solitary goal despite finishing the game with eight men.
Chris Latham put in an accomplished performance in midfield in the semi final fixtures, starting both and playing a huge role, particularly in the first leg.
For Greenalls captain Mark Hughes it is a deserved call up having been on standby for the semi final. Since his return from injury the skipper has put in consistent midfield shifts, freeing up the likes of Lee Hughes and Latham to go and attack the opposition.
The game will be played at Chester FC’s Exacta Stadium providing that the weather does not intervene.
We wish all three Greenalls players and the Cheshire side luck in the final.
